Why regular massage is good for you:
Touch & massage have been used in many cultures for thousands of years as a way of achieving a state of calm & relaxation. The type of massage I offer is known as 'Swedish Massage'. It has been shown that receiving regular massages can:
- Increase your overall mental alertness.
- Help to support your immune system.
- Encourage a reduction in stress hormones circulating in the body, whilst increasing the calming & 'feel good' ones.
- Help to maintain a positive mood.
- Help with muscle tension & general aches & pains.
And it feels wonderful!

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A MASSAGE
Before your treatment I will ask you a number of questions about your health to ensure that massage is right for you. On rare occasions I may ask that your GP or medical specialist agrees to treatment before proceeding. All information is treated confidentially. A treatment plan is agreed that is individual to you.
Consultation time is free. Body, pregnancy, eastern facial and foot massages are carried out on a couch. Indian Head massage is performed on a therapy chair, and can be received fully clothed is wished.
Modesty is protected at all times with large towels, and extra comfort provided by a heated underblanket, pillows and knee supports.
A massage treatment may include all or some of the following:
- Deep breathing
- Effleurage (smooth stroking of the skin)
- Kneading of the muscles and tissues
- Holding the muscles and tissues
- Tapping
- Mobilising the joints and stretching
- Rocking the body
At the end of your treatment you will be allowed time to recover and dress.
Please allow 15mins at the end of your massage to take a drink and recover before leaving.
